A man who contaminated candy with tranquilliser and gave them to youngsters at a summer camp in Leicestershire has admitted sexual crimes against two young males both nine and 10.
The defendant was taken into custody after eight youngsters and one adult fell ill at the location in the summer month.
The senior citizen, from that region, pleaded guilty to a multiple criminal counts when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.
However, he disputed a single sexual charge he was charged with, which was against a young boy.
The defendant was held in detention before a additional proceeding on 28 November.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, presenting evidence, described the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She stated his victims were under-privileged children who were staying at a summer program which he managed.
The man conducted a "sweet game" with the children, the prosecutor stated, in which he would go into the children's bedrooms when they were settling down and ask them to ingest treats "as fast as possible".
She told the court the man had played this game with the children "over an extended period", and children had previously fallen ill the next day.
She stated Ruben had been successful in rationalizing this repeatedly as the minors being "overstimulated by activities", until his stepson had worries in recently.
The prosecutor stated further: "Recently" his stepchild had concerns about the activities, for good reason.
"They decided to investigate in the defendant's belongings."
Mrs Prior KC explained objects including baby oil, ointment and injection devices were found, and his family member alerted the law enforcement about his concerns.
She explained the defendant proceeded to play the "treat game" with six children that evening - that Saturday - and they were all ill the following morning.
"Authorities" had not responded by that time," she continued.
The regulatory agency, the investigative body, earlier informed that it was reviewing law enforcement's management of the events.
The prosecutor said the minors were struggling to walk due to being ill, so the stepson notified the police a second time.
She said Ruben then engaged in the "sweet game" in a room of five youngsters.
